Law360 reported on the zoning approval of the Magic City Innovation District mixed-use project in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Akerman secured the approval on behalf of Plaza Equity Partners, Metro 1, and Dragon Global in the development of 200,000 square feet of residential, retail, and office space. In addition, a $31 million trust fund was set up for the neighborhood.

Neisen Kasdin, Miami Office Managing Partner, led the zoning approval process and told Law360, “It was a complicated process and a lengthy process. Some of the key elements in terms of its approval were working with the neighborhood organizations and activists, the leading ones of whom supported and endorsed the special area plan.”
