In The News

WorkedUp podcast creator and host Matthew Steinberg was quoted in a series of Law360 reports on the most influential employment cases for the first and second half of 2018. The publication discussed with him critical employment litigation developments, including the far reaching implications of Dynamex Operations West Inc. v. The Superior Court of Los Angeles County by the California Supreme Court. In this case, Steinberg explained the court adopted a much narrower test to determine employment status, presuming workers are employees rather than contractors. He also addressed what employers may expect following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Lamps Plus Inc. v. Frank Varela, especially when it comes to the formulation of arbitration agreements inclusive of class action waivers. Law360 also spoke with Steinberg on what the nation’s high court may do about a recent petition of certioriari in Altitude Express Inc. v. Zarda and its potential effects on the application of Title VII to gender identity and sexual orientation.
