The fifth annual Akerman U.S. Real Estate Summit featured a session on the retail sector, which top industry executives said is going through a very rapid change due to rising internet sales. Jeff Berkowitz, founder and president of Berkowitz Development Group, showed a more optimistic outlook on Miami and its booming luxury market, citing projects underway like Brickell City Centre and the Design District.

The Miami Herald quoted Berkowitz, “Miami is exploding, and is one of the most dynamic cities in the country today. It’s a great city now and it’s going to be a world class, iconic city in the next five years."
