In The News

Multiple publications quoted Neisen Kasdin, Miami office managing partner, about the Miami Planning, Zoning, and Appeals Board’s recommendation to do away with Special Area Plans (SAPs). The Board recently approved a resolution to repeal an SAP provision that allows property owners to seek zoning changes if they amass more than nine acres to build mix-use developments in exchange for community benefits.

Kasdin, who has led some of Miami’s most well-known SAPs, elaborated on the benefits at a meeting. GlobeSt quoted him, “Think before you take a step like this, which could actually stop the best developments the city has ever seen.” He added that repealing the provision would result in “piecemeal” development and the city would lose the power to negotiate community benefits.
