Akerman Litigation Partner Kristen McDanald is the recipient of the Houston Business Journal's 2025 Women Who Mean Business: Outstanding Business Leaders in Law award. The Women Who Mean Business awards recognize women in leadership roles across nine industry categories who have demonstrated excellence in their careers and communities.

Kristen is part of Akerman's Houston Insurance Coverage Practice Group and has extensive experience in coverage litigation and commercial property disputes. She shapes insurance law through her writing and public speaking and teaches several insurance CE and CLE courses each year, underscoring her commitment to the professional growth of her peers and the broader legal community.

Kristen's work has earned recognition from Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers as a leader in insurance law and civil litigation. She is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Association – a distinction awarded to fewer than one percent of Texas attorneys – and a Houston Young Lawyers Foundation Fellow. Kristen holds leadership roles in various legal associations and supports  several charitable initiatives, including Akerman's Houston Community Impact Team and the Women's Bridge Network.
