In The News

Pedro Freyre, chair of Akerman’s International Practice, Augusto Maxwell, chair of Akerman’s Cuba Practice, and Martin Domb contributed to Chambers and Partners’ Litigation 2021 Guide with an article analyzing Cuba policy, focusing on the rulings that have been issued in eight cases that were filed after the U.S. government lifted the suspension of the civil remedy provision of the Helms-Burton Act in May of 2019. The provision allows civil action against companies and individuals that “traffic” in property that Cuba confiscated, and had been suspended since it was enacted in 1996.
