Senior Living Facilities Practice Co-Chair Beppy Owen discussed Akerman's 2015 U.S. Real Estate Industry Outlook Survey with Senior Housing News, which indicated that senior housing is the second-most active development in the multifamily sector. In an article titled, "Megatrends Push Senior Living Development Interest to New Highs," the publication reported that the national real estate executives who took at Akerman Survey see population aging as a top trend that will have the most significant impact on real estate development over the next three years. Owen explained that the most successful developers will adapt their projects to changing practices in the delivery of healthcare.

"We know for a fact that current supply is insufficient to meet the current demand, and that demand will continue to increase as more and more Boomers enter their twilight years. So, it's quite natural for new developers and investors who are looking for opportunities to look at the growing need for these types of properties," Owen told the publication.
