After a visit to Akerman's outpost at The LAB Miami, the South Florida Business Journal wrote an article titled, "Entrepreneur explosion births incubators, shared workspaces," which illustrated how Akerman lawyers are becoming a part of Miami's entrepreneurial movement. The article reported that Daniel Schwartz met with a client, Aabad Melwani, about his equity investment in a small startup company called Boatbound. As the two examined a contract, Joe Furst, another Akerman client with Goldman Properties, the developer of Wynwood, Miami's startup hub, entered the workspace to meet with Dan Faust.
"Having lawyers in-house was considered a benefit," said The LAB co-founder Wifredo Fernandez.
"Collisions is the word we use. People of different backgrounds and purposes colliding and sharing ideas," said Furst.
