Stefi N. George, chair of Akerman’s State and Local Tax Practice, and Vivien R. Krieger, partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, have been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2026 list of Notable Women in Law. The recognition honors women lawyers for their professional achievements and contributions to their communities.
A versatile tax lawyer, Stefi advises clients on tax planning, compliance, controversy, tax insurance underwriting, and litigation. Her practice encompasses complex state and local tax issues, including income, sales and use, and gross receipts taxes, with a particular focus on emerging issues affecting digital services, SaaS companies, remote sellers, and marketplace facilitators. She regularly represents clients before state and city departments of revenue, tribunals, and state and federal courts nationwide.
Vivien represents developers, lenders, property owners, buyers, and nonprofit organizations in land use and zoning matters throughout New York City. She frequently drafts applications and represents clients before city and state agencies and public benefit corporations and advises on zoning approvals, development agreements, and related land use litigation. Vivien is an active participant in the real estate and urban development community and serves in leadership and advisory roles across several industry organizations.
