NFL owners voted this week to allow select private equity firms to invest in up to 10 percent of a team. Steven Roddenberry, a partner in Akerman’s Sports and Entertainment Law Practice, told MarketWatch and Fortune that despite the vote there are still aspects of the league that may make private equity firms hesitant to invest in the NFL.

“The biggest legal challenge is getting the private-equity firm to make a minority investment in a business where the majority owner has conflicting interests — the desire to spend money to win for personal satisfaction and the desire to make money to obtain a return on investment,” Roddenberry told MarketWatch.
