Press Release

Akerman LLP continues to be recognized among the largest law firms in the United States. The firm ranked 97th on The American Lawyer's "Am Law 100" list, an annual measure of the top-grossing law firms.

Akerman's consistent ranking among the top 100 law firms is a reflection of the firm's strategic growth for six consecutive years. Its revenues increased by nearly 4 percent during the 2016 fiscal year and physical headcount grew by 10 percent to an all-time high of 650 lawyers and business professionals across 24 U.S. offices. The firm experienced the fastest growth last year in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, and opened four new offices in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and New Orleans as part of its client-driven strategy.

"Our success continues to be defined by two key ingredients: nearly a century of stability and real agility. This unique combination has propelled Akerman into one of the most innovative law firms in the United States," said Andrew Smulian, Akerman Chairman and CEO. "I am immensely proud of our people and all that we continue to accomplish together for our clients and our firm."

Akerman's achievements year-over-year is a testament to the firm's continued ability to meet changing client needs while adapting to disruptions in the marketplace. In 2016, the Financial Times ranked Akerman among the top 20 most innovative law firms in North America. The firm received further distinction in the first-ever Innovation in Collaboration category for the creation of a technology-based product innovation. Also singled-out in the Regulatory Work for Clients category, Akerman achieved a historic tax victory for the Seminole Tribe of Florida that reverberated for Native American tribes across the United States, and its leading Cuba Practice constructed a groundbreaking legal framework that enabled its client Musicabana to launch the largest, most historic music event of its kind in Cuba.
