Akerman was highlighted in The Florida Bar Foundation's Speaking of Justice article titled, "Akerman LLP remembers Jim Foster with $10,000 gift designated," for its contribution to the Children's Legal Services Grant Program, in honor of the late Jim Foster, a former Akerman colleague. The Program funds projects throughout Florida that protect the legal rights of foster children and children with special-education, mental-health and medical needs.

"In our view, this was an opportunity to make something good happen out of a very, very sad situation," said Charlie Brumback, Orlando office managing partner. "The program's goals and accomplishments are directly in line with Akerman's mission to make a difference in the community, particularly in the areas of education and youth development. And it's a fitting tribute to Jim, given his passion for the law and for helping others."
