Alejandro Paz is an associate in the litigation practice group. Alejandro focuses his practice on civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts. He has experience representing clients in various legal disputes, including claims involving breach of contract, 42 U.S.C. § 1983 violations, shareholder derivative actions, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, real estate matters, and several other torts. Prior to joining Akerman, Alejandro clerked for the Honorable Federico A. Moreno, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.

Plaintiff alleged breach of an exclusivity provision in a service agreement between the parties. Obtained favorable result in a Motion for Summary Judgment where the Court found that client had no liability due to a limitation of liability provision.

Court granted Motion to Dismiss for improper venue because of a forum selection clause in agreement between the parties.
Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act:
Obtained favorable result in a Motion to Dismiss in a RICO matter in federal court, where the Court dismissed the case under the doctrine of forum non conveniens.
Antitrust:
Successfully assisted in the defense of a large global consumer products manufacturer.
Civil Rights Action:
Successfully represented law enforcement officer in federal court for a Section 1983 claim and a wrongful death claim.

Successfully defended corporation in a shareholder dispute.
