Andrew Herndon focuses his practice on renewable energy project finance, representing financial institutions that provide debt and tax equity funding for energy assets, including solar and battery energy storage facilities. He also advises on project development and energy-related corporate matters, giving him a broad perspective on the legal and commercial considerations involved in renewable energy transactions.
Prior to joining Akerman, Andrew practiced in the financial services group at an Am Law 200 firm and gained experience in the renewable energy industry, including in the legal department of Calpine Corporation, where he focused on energy development matters, and at Tesla, Inc., where he developed and assisted with proposals for commercial-scale solar and utility-scale battery energy storage systems. He also previously worked as a renewable energy reporter for Bloomberg LP and a startup company it acquired, focusing on project development and finance. This experience gives Andrew insight into the business and market considerations that shape renewable energy projects and allows him to provide clients a practical perspective on their deals.
