Anthony El-Hashem is an associate attorney in the Immigration Planning and Compliance team within Akerman’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Anthony is responsible for the strategic preparation and management of employment and family-based immigration matters on behalf of corporate clients in various industries, including hospitals and healthcare networks, laboratories, universities, parenteral drug packaging companies, software development and technology firms, advertising agencies, and wealth management firms, among others. Through his advice and counsel, clients are better prepared to navigate and understand the complex issues associated with nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processes, such as H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, O-1, and TN Petitions, and PERM labor certification applications and I-140 Petitions in the EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 preference classification categories, to hire and retain top foreign talent and remain in compliance with U.S. immigration laws.

Anthony also provides high-level guidance to clients on obtaining J-1 waivers for foreign medical graduates through the appropriate interested government agency, including State Departments of Health (Conrad 30 programs), the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).

Prior to joining Akerman, Anthony gained significant experience with a Connecticut-based business immigration law practice and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Immigration Litigation and Executive Office for Immigration Review.
