Ashlee Tising's more than 15 years of experience in Florida politics started when she interned with U.S. Senator Bill Nelson in 2004. Since then, she has called Florida her home and has successfully advocated before the Florida Legislature and Cabinet on behalf of both public and private sector entities, garnering many close political associations on both sides of the aisle.

Previously, Ashlee served as a cabinet and legislative liaison to Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty at the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR). During her time at the OIR, Ashlee worked hand-in-hand with public officials, lobbyists, staff, constituents, and company representatives, developing a strong background in insurance regulation, marketing, and public policy in the process.

Ashlee has closely followed the ever-developing medical cannabis industry in Florida since its inception in 2014. Well-versed in both cannabis and hemp legislation and regulation, she has presented before both the Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) and the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on behalf of her clients.

Since joining Akerman's Public Policy Group in 2018, Ashlee has helped secure $1.8 million towards Florida's Early Childhood Court Program's. She was also able to persuade the legislature to provide $500,000 for the City of Mexico Beach, which she worked on pro bono due to her commitment to help the Florida Panhandle recover from Hurricane Michael.

Ashlee also closely monitors and reports on Florida’s executive orders (both state and locally) and other governmental responses to the COVID pandemic to assist Akerman clients as they try to keep up to speed in this rapidly evolving environment.
