David Fernandez-Fidalgo focuses his practice on a broad range of intellectual property matters involving patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He assists clients in preparing, drafting, and prosecuting patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and abroad. David has experience with a variety of technologies including medical devices, electronics (software and hardware), internal combustion engines, solar panels, sensors, manufacturing processes, and inventions implementing artificial intelligence. David also conducts research and analysis on a variety of legal issues in support of patent and trademark litigation.

Prior to his legal career, David worked as a biomedical engineer supporting clinical research at both the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Later, as a patent examiner at the USPTO, he evaluated the patentability of medical devices in a variety of diagnostic fields, including physiological monitoring and biological sampling devices. David leverages his experience as a patent examiner to help clients navigate complex patent prosecution issues and obtain high value, enforceable patents.
