David Grasher is a Partner in Akerman’s Litigation Practice Group and is a part of Akerman’s eDiscovery Services team. David has experience with the full lifecycle of  the discovery process, from the initial stage of data preservation and collection all the way through document review, production and presentation.  Since every client and case poses unique characteristics, David works with clients to identify the key issues involved in a case, locates relevant data in response to discovery requests, and implements a coherent collection and review strategy.  David supervises and directs document review team leaders and attorneys to ensure that document reviews are carried out efficiently and in accordance with the directives of the case team within the deadlines required. 

David helps improve the eDiscovery process by:

  • Preparing budgets to meet the needs of clients;
  • Drafting and disseminating preservation-hold notices;
  • Conducting custodian interviews to identify sources of relevant data;
  • Organizing data in a logical and sensible manner;
  • Drafting document review guidelines and protocols;
  • Developing workflows to streamline the course of document reviews to ensure efficiency;
  • Training team leaders and project attorneys on the logistics of cost-effective document reviews;
  • Serving as a liaison between the case team and the review team to ensure the project attorneys are conducting their work efficiently and accurately;
  • Providing guidance to team leaders and project attorneys to ensure responsive documents are properly coded and produced and to avoid the inadvertent production of privileged or nonresponsive documents; 

In addition to David's work with Akerman's eDiscovery Service team, David represents clients in medical device, mass tort, and product liability matters.  He has significant experience working on cases involving cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular products, pharmaceutical mesh (multi-district litigation), and alleged asbestos and silica exposure. He has also represented clients in premises liability cases, consumer protection class actions pertaining to anti-fungal products, benzene, and pet food marketing, and cases involving products such as pharmaceutical drugs, automotive lifts, saline syringes, seat belts, airbags and megayachts.
