Howard Janis is Akerman’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer, helping lead the business, financial, and administrative operations that support the firm’s lawyers, clients, and strategic growth. Working with the Chief Operating Officer and firm leadership, Howard focuses on strengthening financial performance, advancing operational efficiency, and aligning business processes with the firm’s long-term objectives.

With more than 35 years of leadership experience in professional services organizations, Howard brings deep experience across finance, law firm pricing, business analytics, client accounting, HR, IT, and facilities management. He is particularly focused on using data, pricing discipline, and operational insight to support informed decision-making and enhance client value.

Before joining Akerman, Howard served as Department Operating Officer for a 750-attorney firm, managing finance, operations, and hiring for a large transactional department. He also previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for a national business law firm, where he oversaw operational departments across the organization. Earlier in his career, he was Director of Strategic Pricing and Analytics in the Atlanta office of an international law firm, evaluating alternative fee arrangements and special pricing proposals.

Howard is among the first professionals to earn the Accredited Legal Pricing Professional designation. He has spoken at programs hosted by LMA, P3, Ark, and Thomson Reuters on legal pricing, client partnerships, RFP strategy, operational efficiency, and the evolving business of law.
