Jason St. John is an associate in Akerman’s Consumer Financial Services, Data and Technology (CFS+) Practice Group. Jason represents a wide array of financial services companies in state and federal litigation including class actions. He regularly defends financial services providers against individual and class claims brought pursuant to RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, and TCPA. Additionally, Jason defends mortgage lenders, servicers, and other financial services providers against borrower complaints alleging violations of state statutes, wrongful foreclosures, and debt collection statutes.

Jason also assists clients with regulatory compliance and enforcement matters.  Jason rejoined Akerman following his time at the New York Department of Financial Services where he was Senior Assistant Deputy Superintendent, Consumer Protection and Financial Enforcement Division. At Akerman, Jason assists mortgage originators, servicers, and investors as well as consumer lenders, payments companies, and fintech providers on analyzing state licensing requirements, on obtaining necessary state licenses, and on compliance with federal and state consumer protection laws.
