Rukayat Salaam focuses her practice on labor and employment-related disputes and litigation avoidance. She represents businesses in employment law matters, including discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation and harassment disputes, wage and hour class actions, PAGA actions, and claims before administrative agencies. With experience across a range of industries, including retail, franchising, staffing, non-profit, and healthcare, Rukayat’s clients value her tenacity, rigor, and agility in devising strategies and crafting solutions that achieve business objectives.

In addition to her litigation experience, clients seek Rukayat’s counsel on developing and implementing compliant internal policies and procedures, analyzing employee classifications, and preparing employee handbooks.

Committed to the community and the profession, Rukayat maintains an active pro bono practice advising small businesses and nonprofit entities on a range of legal issues related to employment law. She is also a member of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, the Langston Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
