Trish MacAskill focuses her practice on domestic and international franchise and distribution laws, as well as business transactions. Trish applies her significant general counsel experience when advising clients, providing practical legal solutions to her clients’ business goals. She helps clients navigate franchise regulatory compliance matters as well as franchisee relationship issues, and also negotiates commercial transactions and real estate leases.

Trish represents franchise start-ups, emerging brands, and large internationally known brands. She has worked with a variety of different distribution strategies through traditional franchising, exemptions, and licensing models. Trish is also experienced in franchise-related mergers and acquisitions. 

Trish regularly speaks on the benefits of a franchise model both domestically and internationally. Most recently she was a panelist at the request of the U.S. Commercial Services in New York to international participants looking to invest in the franchise model both in the United States and abroad, and also joined the U.S. Commercial Services in Accra, Ghana speaking with selected participants from nonprofits that empower women by introducing them to the franchising business model.

Trish also performs pro bono work for Akerman, most recently by successfully obtaining additional compensation for a U.S. Veteran through the Conflict-Related Special Compensation program.
