Seminars and Conferences

Presented by Akerman's Labor & Employment Practice Group
The annual Akerman Labor & Employment Law Seminar is a valuable resource for Businesses, HR professionals and attorneys. Discussions will focus on interesting and timely labor and employment topics, including new federal, state and local laws and regulatory changes, and the latest best practices in avoiding litigation. The agenda will include social media policies in the workplace; hot topics under the FLSA; the latest FMLA developments; how to draft and enforce non-compete agreements; common compliance pitfalls with employee benefit plans; developments in EEO law; how the NLRB law is invading the non-union workplace; and how to be ready if OSHA pays you a visit.

In keeping with our tradition of providing a program that is both substantive and entertaining, the 2013 Akerman Seminar will feature a mock trial of a retaliation case. Retaliation cases are among the most prevalent in employment litigation, and are often challenging for employers when they involve a current employee. Attendees will be selected to participate as members of the jury, and the entire audience will be able to cast votes electronically. Don't miss it!
