Akerman is a sponsor of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) Art in the Tropics: Azúcar! event, benefiting CABA's pro bono legal services. CABA's pro bono legal services was created in 1984 to assist disadvantaged members of the community with pro bono legal representation. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, it continues its mission of changing the lives of children, individuals, and families who cannot otherwise afford effective legal advocates. 

CABA is a non-profit voluntary bar association founded 50 years ago in 1974 by lawyers of Cuban descent. Today, CABA's members include judges, lawyers, and law students of all backgrounds interested in issues affecting the Cuban community.
