Akerman is a sponsor of the Second Annual Tribute Dinner, presented by the Cuban Banking Study Group (CBSG), honoring and inducting an exceptional group of banking professionals into the Cuban Bankers Hall of Fame. The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to endow a scholarship fund at FIU for students who wish to pursue a career in banking or finance.

The honorees are an outstanding group of individuals who shaped the domestic and international banking system in Miami and helped transform Miami into the “financial capital of Latin America."  These professionals, with impeccable professional and ethical records, made immeasurable contributions to banking and the economy of the US and many other countries.

CBSG is a non-profit association dedicated to memorializing the history of the Cuban banking and financial system and to the promotion of an orderly development of the Cuban banking industry in a market-driven economy.  In partnership with FIU and Casa Cuba, the “CBSG Hall of Fame” will commission a permanent exhibit in the home that will be constructed for Casa Cuba (celebrating Cuban Heritage) and showcase the accomplishments of these outstanding professionals.
