Akerman is a sponsor of the 2020 Intellectual Property Institute (IPI20) presented by the USC Gould School of Law. The virtual conference will cover emerging issues and best practices in copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, and other related fields. Caroline Mankey is a member of the IPI20 Planning Committee and Ellen Robbins is a member of the USC IP Law Institute Executive Committee. Ellen will speak on a panel titled, "Hot Topics in Patent Litigation, Licensing, and Transactions." The panel will focus on trending issues in patent litigation, patent licensing in light of the FTC decision against Qualcomm, litigation strategies in light of recent case law, and important issues in patent sales and valuations. The panel will also feature two U.S. federal district court judges: the Honorable Alan Albright from the Western District of Texas and the Honorable Joseph F. Bataillon from the District of Nebraska.
