Three partners from Akerman's Tax Practice Group will present at the  Council on State Taxation's (COST) State and Local Tax Workshop for Technology Companies. The two-day workshop, which attracts leading Silicon Valley technology companies, will cover key state and local tax issues facing tech companies, including digital taxes on software, streaming services, and cloud-based platforms;  sourcing, apportionment, and marketplace facilitator laws; transfer pricing; business-to-business transactions; capital investments credits and incentives; bundled transactions; and much more.

Tax Practice Group Co-Chair David Blum will participate on a panel titled “Complex Marketplace Facilitator Laws,” which will address best practices for marketplace facilitators and sellers navigating how to comply with complex multijurisdictional rules and the administration of these taxes.

State and Local Tax Practice Chair Stefi George will speak on the panel, “Top 10 Income and Transactional Tax Cases Impacting the Technology Sector,” which will delve into the most significant transactional and corporate income tax cases shaping the landscape on issues related to technology usage and the tech industry.

Tax Practice Group Partner, Michael Bowen will participate on a panel called "Best Practices - Settle or Litigate Alternative Apportionment Cases," which will address the pros and cons taxpayers should consider when deciding between settlement and litigation, including a disciplined method to evaluate the state’s case.
