Akerman’s Tax Practice Group Co-chairs, Peter Larsen and David Blum, will speak at the 2023 Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) Sales Tax Symposium.

Peter Larsen’s session, "P(lease) Plan Your Lease," will describe the different state paradigms of taxing lease transactions, unique compliance burdens for lessors, and lease structures that can be used to minimize state tax risk.

David Blum will speak on “Construction Contracting Issues, Opportunities and Traps for the Unwary” in a session focused on the unique and complex tax aspects of construction contracting. Attendees will learn about categorizing tax obligations that involve tangible personal property, real property and services.

IPT’s yearly Sales Tax Symposium provides a deep dive into the topics that are top of mind for sales and use tax professionals. The program includes a varied range of topics from industry and region-specific sessions as well as the issues that keep sales tax professionals up at night.
