Speaking Engagements

Akerman Tax Practice Group Co-Chair David Blum and State and Local Tax Practice Chair Stefi George will speak at The Chicago Tax Club’s 71st Annual Fall Seminar. David and Stefi's topic, "Challenges and Opportunities in Defining and Sourcing Gross Receipts for the Sales Factor," will discuss best practices for properly defining gross receipts and review recent state tax developments on the issue.

David will also speak with Discover State and Local Tax Director Anthony Siebers and United Airlines State Tax Manager Monica Nelluvelil on a panel titled "Local Tax Morass: Insights, Opportunities and Challenges." The group will discuss the history, authority, and limitations of sub-state jurisdictions to impose local tax, recent changes and important cases, and best practices to manage exposure.

The Chicago Tax Club, organized in 1933, is a nonprofit association consisting of individual tax professionals employed by corporations and other businesses. The two-day Fall Seminar features nationally recognized speakers, authors, and tax technicians and provides an excellent opportunity for tax professionals to enhance their skills and network with others in the industry.
