Deputy Chair of Akerman’s Tax Practice Group, David Blum, will speak on a panel titled, "Tax Considerations of Crypto, Metaverse and NFTs," at the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois State & Local Tax Conference. The panel will explore the current status of federal, state, and local taxes as it pertains to digital assets. Cryptocurrencies, Metaverse and NFTs have been spreading throughout the global economy at a rapid pace, and laws and regulations have struggled to keep up. The panel will look at the taxation across the U.S. as it pertains to income tax, sales tax, unclaimed property, and more.
