Akerman will host a discussion exploring the current issues and future opportunities surrounding the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. The EB-5 Program has become an important tool for real estate development and one which requires expert advice related to current challenges the evolving EB-5 marketplace, including: the length of fund raising, retrogression for China-based investors, delays in I-526/I-829 petition reviews, lack of promulgated rulemaking and recent securities enforcement actions. The effectiveness of this program as a source of funding for real estate development could be compromised depending on how these issues are addressed in the near term.
