A Message from Akerman's Chairman and CEO

Today, we pause to honor those who have selflessly answered the call to serve our country. As President John F. Kennedy recognized, “The price of freedom is sacrifice.” The preservation of the rights and liberties we hold dear is safeguarded by the courage of those who have served, including many within our own Akerman family. We owe a profound debt to our veterans, and it is our responsibility, as beneficiaries of their unwavering commitment, to recognize, honor, and support them.

In the past year alone, the Akerman team has dedicated more than 350 pro bono hours to support veterans in meaningful ways, from discharge upgrades to combat-related special compensation cases and legal name changes. Yet, our work here is far from complete. We are a proud sponsor of the National Veterans Legal Services Program and are honored to partner with them in an upcoming training program on veteran-focused pro bono work. This virtual event will take place on Tuesday, November 12, from 3:00-4:00 pm EST. Please reach out to the Pro Bono Initiative if you would like to attend.

Above and below, you will find the names and faces of Akerman’s veterans — our heroes among us. Let’s please take a moment to read their names, reflect on their service, and extend our gratitude for their sacrifice. Every day, we enjoy the freedoms they have helped to secure. And to our colleagues with family members currently serving, we extend our heartfelt thanks, thoughts, and prayers for their safety.

Akerman Proud. Akerman Strong.
