Martin Dix will speak on a panel titled "Patient Copayments: Collection, Waiver, and Patient Assistance Programs" at the NASP 2024 Annual Meeting & Expo. The panel will discuss the obligations imposed on specialty pharmacies by various types of third-party payors (TPPs) to collect copayments and the steps the pharmacy can take when patients voice an inability to pay. Specific focus will be on adoption by the pharmacy of a clear copayment collection/waiver policy,  steps the pharmacy should take before waiving or reducing a copayment, utilization of patient assistance programs implemented by manufacturers, utilization of local, state and federal programs designed to help patients pay for expensive drugs, and referring patients to charities designed to assist patients with health care needs.
