Chair of Akerman’s State and Local Tax Practice, Michael Bowen and Tax Partner Lorie Fale will speak at the annual Paul J. Hartman Memorial State and Local Tax Forum. Michael will present at a SALT forum session entitled “Economic Nexus and More.” His presentation will include a discussion of recent challenges to states’ adoption of guidance interpreting PL 86-272 as applied to business activities over the internet.

During Lorie’s SALT forum session, “SALT Short Takes on Oddball Taxes,” she will deliver targeted insights on topics such as captive insurance/self-procurement, unemployment taxes, special assessments and tax-versus-fee considerations.

Lorie serves as an advisory board member for the yearly forum, which provides industry, practitioners, and state revenue employees the opportunity to explore significant national developments and trends in state and local taxation.
