The article discusses a recent announcement by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that in January 2019 it will reveal proposed changes of its payday rule and address the rule's compliance date, currently set for August 2019.

While the CFPB may seek to postpone the rule's compliance date, Goldberg cautioned, "It's hard to put all your eggs in one basket hoping that this will all go away before August. There's too much uncertainty here, and some part of your company needs to be thinking about coming into compliance by August, particularly with the payments provisions."
