Law Week Colorado has named Akerman Litigation Partner Adam Massaro to its "Lawyers of the Year" list. The select list recognizes the state's leading attorneys, as identified by their colleagues. Massaro is an intellectual property and corporate litigator based in Denver, where he also serves on the firm's Cannabis Practice.

Massaro's journey to entering law school required him to overcome adversity in ways he had not experienced before. But once the opportunity presented itself for Massaro to enter law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, he didn't waste the opportunity, excelling in his studies – a quality that has carried over into his practice where he has impressed for more than a decade.

Massaro's competitive nature—born from playing years of competitive sports—also drew him to high stakes corporate and intellectual property litigation. He later parlayed his intellectual property litigation background into handling intellectual property disputes in the growing legal cannabis industry. "I really enjoy the cannabis industry because of the evolving nature," Massaro told the publication in a recent profile piece.
