Akerman represented New Country Motor Car Group in the sale of three luxury automotive dealerships to Keeler Motor Car Company, a portfolio company of private equity firm Open Road Capital. The transaction included Lexus of Westport and Toyota of Westport in Connecticut and Audi Hawthorne in New York.
The dealerships serve affluent communities in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Westchester County, New York. The divestiture allows New Country Motor Car Group to focus on its Washington, D.C., market, where the company recently expanded its luxury dealership presence.
Jared Cantanucci, president of New Country Motor Car Group, stated, “We appreciate the advice and efficient services of Akerman's auto retail legal team, who helped us navigate this complex transaction to a successful conclusion.”
Akerman's Automotive Retail Practice has decades of experience representing dealer clients buying or selling “top 100” auto dealership groups, as well as single points, across the country. The Akerman team advising New Country Motor Car Group was led by corporate law Partners Jonathan Awner and Hunter Carpenter and included real estate law Of Counsel Bert Greenwell, environmental law Partner Sarah Campell Smith, antitrust law Partner Austin Ownbey, and litigation and motor vehicle regulatory law Partner Brit Brown.
New Country Motor Car Group, established in 1983, operates 26 luxury and import dealerships across six states in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, representing Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar-Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, and Toyota.
