Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is pleased to announce that 10 lawyers have been elected to the firm's partnership, effective immediately. The new partners represent six practice groups and span six offices.

The new partners are: 

Erin E. Edwards, Consumer Financial Services, Chicago
Edwards represents a wide array of financial services companies in state and federal litigation, including class actions and litigation involving homeowners’ association lien priority. She regularly defends financial services providers against individual and class claims brought pursuant to RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, and TCPA. 

Elizabeth F. Hodge, Healthcare, West Palm Beach
Hodge concentrates her practice on compliance and regulatory issues affecting healthcare providers and payers and employer-sponsored health plans. She has significant experience with HIPAA and the HITECH Act and assists covered entities and business associates in complying with these laws through the development of policies and procedures, workforce training, analysis and notification of breaches, and assisting with government audits and investigations.  

Donnie M. King, Litigation, Miami
King is a national litigator with experience successfully handling complex and general commercial disputes, including high stakes securities litigation, proxy contests, securities fraud, business torts, private equity litigation, civil theft, antitrust, and sports and entertainment. His practice also includes product liability defense and the defense of traumatic personal injury actions and toxic tort cases. 

Zachary R. Kobrin, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Fort Lauderdale
Kobrin’s practice focuses on cannabis, marijuana, and hemp law and involves advising clients on the evolving, complex legal and business issues impacting companies with interests in this heavily regulated industry. He also advises clients on developing federal and state public policy matters and banking and insurance issues impacting clients in the cannabis, marijuana, and hemp industry. 

Kristofer D. Machado, Real Estate, Miami
Machado represents clients in all aspects of real estate development, with an emphasis on providing strategic land use advice and advancing complex projects through the process of obtaining site control and securing zoning, planning, historic, environmental, and other local, state, and federal regulatory approvals. As part of his practice, Machado routinely appears before municipal zoning and planning boards and other quasi-judicial bodies, negotiates agreements with stakeholders and regulators, and helps clients develop novel and effective entitlement strategies. 

Dale Noll, Tax, Miami
Noll represents trustees, personal representatives, guardians, and beneficiaries in a wide variety of fiduciary issues, and assists them in their roles as fiduciaries in administering estates, guardianships, and trusts. A particular focus of his practice is the representation of corporate or individual fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and other interested parties in high conflict, complex, and high-profile guardianship, trust, and probate matters at the county probate court and appellate levels. 

Kathleen M. Prystowsky, Litigation, New York
Prystowsky's represents clients within the real estate and hospitality sectors, including owners, lenders, and developers. Additionally, she has experience advising clients with securities litigation, corporate dissolution, shareholder agreements, and arbitration disputes. 

Jamie Z. Roth, Consumer Financial Services, Denver

Alexander (A.J.) Sokoloff, Real Estate, New York
Sokoloff’s practice focuses on complex real estate related transactions, including the representation of banks, REITs, debt and private equity funds, and developers in connection with mortgage, mezzanine, A/B and syndicated financings, real property acquisitions, dispositions, and leases. He has experience drafting, revising, and negotiating loan documents, intercreditor agreements, co-lender agreements, participation agreements, purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, and leases.  

Jason A. Vaupen, Real Estate, Miami
Vaupen represents clients in the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, and leasing of hotel, office, condominium, retail, mixed-use, multifamily, self-storage, and redeveloped vacant properties. He has extensive experience in working with local and national clients such as developers, private equity funds, lenders, and family offices to negotiate, contract, and close real estate transactions.
