Press Release

Akerman today announced that Jade Faysal Jurdi has joined the firm’s Litigation Practice Group as a partner in the Los Angeles office. He brings more than 15 years of experience helping consumer product manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and automotive dealers resolve their most consequential regulatory and litigation challenges.

“Jade brings a rare depth of California regulatory and litigation experience that expands what we can offer clients in one of the country’s most complex regulatory environments,” said Lawrence P. Rochefort, chair of Akerman’s Litigation Practice Group. “His track record defending consumer class actions, resolving high-stakes Proposition 65 matters, and representing automotive dealers in franchise disputes, combined with his sophisticated compliance counseling, makes him a powerful resource for clients across industries.”

Jade has defended consumer class actions and hundreds of Proposition 65 claims. He litigates when litigation serves the client’s objectives, and has served as lead counsel in matters ranging from administrative proceedings to federal court. His class action experience spans dispositive motion practice through pre-trial, trial, and post-trial proceedings.

Jade counsels businesses on compliance with California’s most far-reaching consumer and environmental laws, including the Unfair Competition Law, the Rigid Plastic Packaging Container Program, and the Transparency in Supply Chains Act. He advises companies in the food, chemical, and life sciences sectors as new legislation reshapes their regulatory obligations.

A significant part of Jade’s practice is devoted to automotive dealers, whom he represents in franchise and business disputes, including before the California New Motor Vehicle Board and in state and federal courts. He advises dealers and auto auctions on licensing and compliance and litigates against regulators when circumstances require. He also counsels dealers on automotive financing compliance under California’s lending laws.

“Throughout my career I have worked with some of the largest retailers in the country, and I have seen firsthand how complex California’s regulatory and litigation landscape can be for consumer product companies and automotive dealers alike,” said Jade. “Akerman’s strength in these markets, its geographic footprint, and its national platform made it the right place to continue delivering the practical, results-driven counsel my clients need.”
