Press Release

Akerman announced today the expansion of its Transactional Risk Practice with the addition of Partners Adria M. Crowe and Christine Kim in the firm’s Chicago and New York offices, respectively.

“Transactional risk insurance products continue to be increasingly utilized across the board, with representations and warranties insurance very often being a critical component and staple in the M&A process,” said Paul Rutigliano, chair of Akerman’s Transactional Risk Practice. “Akerman has been aggressive in our efforts to provide clients with top talent to meet that need, so we are very pleased to welcome Adria and Christine to our team. Their deep experience and knowledge in structuring transactional risk insurance products in the context of M&A transactions, as well as handling policy coverage and claims matters on behalf of our clients, expands our ability to quickly, seamlessly, and effectively advise insurers on transaction risks throughout the entirety of the underwriting process, while at the same time being in a position to properly evaluate and resolve claims when they arise.”

Adria represents insurance carriers throughout the underwriting process of a transaction, including due diligence and policy negotiation. She provides market-leading advice to clients on a variety of transactions, including M&A, real estate, and secondary transactions, leveraging her prior experience at an AmLaw top five firm representing private equity sponsors and Fortune 500 companies in complex M&A transactions.

Christine focuses her practice on transactional liability insurance coverage and claims matters. She represents domestic and international insurers in representations and warranties, warranty and indemnity, contingent risk, political risk, and trade credit matters. Christine previously worked as an in-house specialist at a global insurance provider.
