Healthcare partner Martin Dix in Tallahassee authored a Law360 article titled, "A Jump Forward For Fla. Pharmacy Technicians' Vax Authority," which examines a new Florida law allowing registered pharmacy technicians to provide immunizations after a registration process.. He extolls this development, as pharmacies face future pandemics and serve aging baby boomers in need of vaccines, while underscoring the importance of meeting all training requirements under this new healthcare arrangement.

Dix wrote, "This grant of vaccine administration authority to pharmacy technicians represents a significant jump compared to the 2007 legislative session when the legislation first allowing pharmacists themselves to administer only the flu vaccine was enacted, and only after a hard-fought legislative battle when most other states already allowed pharmacists to administer flu vaccines.

"Fast-forward to 2022 and pharmacy technicians are allowed to administer not just the flu vaccine, but nearly all the vaccines that a pharmacist can, including measles, mumps, rubella and varicella, as well as the lesser-known vaccines such as zoster and meningococcal ACWY and B vaccines."
