As school year begins and the country prepares for another fall semester at the behest of the pandemic, labor and employment partner Mishell Parreno Taylor spoke with Law360 to offer tips — from reviewing school visitation leave laws to implementing flexible scheduling — to help parents and their employers adjust to shifts in workers' schedules and caregiving responsibilities. When it comes to leave policies, Parreno Taylor said employers should assess the leave landscape not just from the perspectives of both compliance perspective and workplace culture.

She was quoted: "How are [leave laws] communicated and how do they ensure that employees know what they can take to be present … if it is to care for someone who's been impacted by COVID-19 or if it's to meet with a teacher. Those are things that I think should be top of mind and are top of mind for many of my clients."
