Press Release

Today, Akerman Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Scott Meyers signed the Anti-Defamation League’s Workplace Pledge to Fight Antisemitism. In making this pledge, Akerman commits to continuing its ongoing fight against antisemitism by taking a variety of actions, including enhancing its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs specifically to address antisemitism, expanding its affinity groups to further support Jewish employees, maintaining its robust religious accommodation policies, and continuing to speak out and take action against antisemitism.

“Akerman has battled against hate and intolerance for over a hundred years, beginning with our founding partners who stood up against the Ku Klux Klan,” said Meyers. “Over the following century and beyond, Akerman has continued to stand for inclusion and tolerance, including its stand against the pernicious and violent attacks against Jews in this country and around the world. An attack on any group based on gender, race, religion, color, sexual orientation, or national origin – including Jewish people – is an assault on the values of diversity, equity, equality, and inclusion that we as a law firm strive to uphold,” continued Meyers.

Since the October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel, online calls for violence against Jews have risen by 1200 percent around the world. In addition, there has been a significant increase in antisemitic incidents in many different countries, including vandalism at synagogues; anti-Jewish rallies, graffiti (including swastikas), and hate speech (including “Gas the Jews”); and attacks on Jewish business establishments.

The world has seen repeatedly – and recently – the horrific consequences of such antisemitism.

Never again.

Today, Akerman proudly stands with our fellow signatories to the Workplace Pledge to Fight Antisemitism, and with all those around the world who raise their voices in opposition to the wanton hatred and persecution of the Jewish people.

Akerman Proud. Akerman Strong.
