Akerman Labor and Employment Partner Mishell Parreno Taylor has been named President-Elect of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), the national organization representing the interests of Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, law students, and other legal professionals across the United States.

Mishell will be sworn in as President-Elect during the HNBA Annual Gala on September 11, 2026, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. She will subsequently serve as President of the HNBA commencing in September 2027.

Mishell brings more than two decades of experience representing employers in complex labor and employment matters nationwide. She leads Akerman’s California Labor and Employment team and focuses her practice on employment litigation involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, as well as high-stakes wage and hour class and representative actions, including matters brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). She also advises clients on workplace investigations, employment compliance, workforce transformation, restructurings, executive separations, and the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Leveraging her multicultural background and nationally recognized labor and employment practice, Mishell advises employers on complex workplace issues affecting diverse and global workforces. Her ability to navigate cultural nuances, workforce relations, and cross-border employment challenges has made her a trusted counselor to organizations operating in an increasingly interconnected business environment.

Mishell is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and serves as President of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) Houston Chapter. She previously served as President of the HNBA’s Latina Commission and has held leadership roles with the HNBA and other legal and professional organizations.
