Andrew Robins, chair of Akerman's Lodging and Lifestyle Practice Group, along with Kenneth Alberstadt, Akerman Chair of the Capital Markets Practice Group, authored an article on the latest legislative developments on condo hotels for Bloomberg BNA. Titled, "Condominium Hotel Units: On the Benefits of Being a Security," the article delves into recent changes in the regulatory framework for the sale and purchase of condo hotels. Due to new regulations issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission, condo hotels can sell as securities, which presents new opportunities for both investors and developers.

Robins and Alberstadt wrote, "The potential to offer condominium hotel units as securities represents a radical change in the use of a condominium hotel structure where it is desirable to offer a "for sale" transient real estate product to the market."
