Crain’s Chicago recognized five Akerman lawyers in its 2020 Notable Women in Law listing. Amy Doehring, Kasey Dunlap, Meg George, Julia Lissner, and LaKeisha Marsh are among the Chicago-area lawyers highlighted for their track record of setting legal precedents, winning big cases for their clients, and mentoring the next wave of women in law – all while finding ways to give back to their communities.

Doehring represents clients in a wide variety of complex litigation matters in federal and state courts across the country, as well as in arbitration. Her legal practice focuses on the defense of clients in several industries such as healthcare, food and beverage, engineering, manufacturing, and insurance.

Dunlap represents institutional and individual clients in connection with significant, complex commercial litigation matters around the country. Her practice focuses on matters involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, unfair competition, securities fraud, broker-dealer disputes, and employment disputes unique to the securities and banking industries.

George, who serves as managing partner of Akerman’s Chicago office, has experience with real estate and municipal law matters, including the acquisition, sale, and development of real estate, land use and zoning, licensing, permitting, subdivision, and other real estate matters.

Lissner represents public and private companies and individuals in a wide range of business disputes in state and federal courts nationwide. She has extensive experience in preparing cases for bench trials, jury trials, arbitrations, and mediations; handling appeals; and conducting internal investigations.

Marsh, Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics Practice Chair, focuses her practice on representing colleges, universities, and related institutions on federal and state regulatory compliance, accreditation, state licensure, distance education programs, institutional governance, and collegiate sports and NCAA compliance-related matters. She has structured and executed a broad range of transactional, restructuring, finance, and corporate governance matters for educational institutions.
