Four Akerman lawyers were selected as 2022 Power Leaders 250 by the South Florida Business Journal, including Miami Co-Office Managing Partner Neisen Kasdin, Fort Lauderdale Office Managing Partner Leslie Miller Tomczak, West Palm Beach Office Managing Partner Chris Duke, and Real Estate Partner Stephen Tilbrook for his leadership as chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.

The Power Leaders 250 are recognized as pillars in the South Florida business community, selected for their leadership and involvement in the region’s most prosperous companies. The publication highlights their personalities and interests, offering insight into the habits and traits of successful business leaders.

Kasdin serves as co-office managing partner of Akerman’s Miami office. A former mayor of Miami Beach and leader in the revitalization of South Beach, he brings extensive civic experience to his work on urban revitalization and the development of complex, large-scale, multi-use projects.

Tomczak serves as managing partner of Akerman’s Fort Lauderdale office. She is a construction attorney, Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law, whose practice focuses primarily on the representation of lenders, developers, owners, landlords, contractors, subcontractors, architects and other design professionals, in a wide range of complex construction contract, project administration, lien, and construction litigation matters. Tomczak is also a LEED® Accredited Professional who represents clients with respect to sustainable (e.g. “green”) building issues. 

Duke serves as managing partner of Akerman’s Palm Beach County Offices. With a diverse practice in employment law and complex commercial litigation, Duke represents clients in federal and state courts, as well as in various arbitration forums and before federal, state, and local administrative bodies. His clients operate across multiple sectors, including hospitality, travel/recreation, healthcare, retail, financial services, and alternative energy. 

Tilbrook has over 25 years of experience practicing land use and environmental law, and he focuses his practice on complex land use, development, and environmental matters throughout the state of Florida. He represents property owners, expanding businesses, developers, financial institutions, and institutional clients, including hospitals, universities, regional shopping centers and real estate investment trusts..
