In The News

Jonathan Robbins, chair of Akerman’s Cannabis Practice, and special counsel Ari Gerstin spoke with Law360 regarding a series of recent court decisions for client Florigrown, including a ruling that has the greatest potential impact of any decision to date on the implementation of a medical marijuana program in Florida. On August 2, Tallahassee-based Circuit Judge Charles Dodson struck down the licensing structure that the state legislature and Department of Health designed for medical marijuana providers. In the aftermath of the Florigrown decision, the medical marijuana market in Florida has the potential to open up greater specialization and competition—as well as rapid growth in the number of treatment centers.
