Legal news site Corporate Counsel has recognized Akerman attorneys Meg George and LaKeisha Marsh in its annual Women, Influence and Power in Law Awards. Meg George was honored in the Mental Health & Well Being Initiative category while LaKeisha Marsh was honored as an Ally of the Year.
Meg George serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and chairs Akerman Strong, the firm’s wellness initiative. Her practice is based in Chicago and is focused on real estate and municipal law matters, including the acquisition, sale, and development of real estate, as well as land use and zoning, licensing, permitting, subdivision, and other real estate matters.
LaKeisha Marsh, who is also based in Chicago, chairs both Akerman’s Government Affairs and Public Policy Practice and its Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics Practice. She leads a bipartisan team of professionals providing strategic counsel on policy and regulatory issues, as well as advocates for clients before federal, state, and local governments and agencies. Marsh also represents colleges, universities, and related institutions on federal and state regulatory compliance, accreditation, state licensure, institutional governance, and NCAA compliance-related matters and collegiate sports matters, including name, image, and likeness. She has structured and executed a broad range of transactional, restructuring, finance, and corporate governance matters for educational institutions.
