Labor and Employment partner Mishell Parreno Taylor told Law360 this week that as the industry ramps up for a massive injection of cash from the government, construction companies need to be vigilant of employment law. U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Chair Charlotte Burrows commented publicly last month that the agency is committed to fighting harassment and discrimination in the construction industry. His comments come as funds from the $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act are flowing into the industry.

Parreno Taylor noted that employers need to not only ensure that harassment and discrimination policies are in place but they are also clearly communicated to all employees.

"We live in a very multicultural, multilingual workforce, right?" she told Law360. "And it's becoming more so every single day, and so I think it's really important when you're rolling out training as a responsible employer, to make sure that you are meeting your workforce where they are."
